Rudy is doing well. That's super great, dahling, rilly. Might be able to bring him home in a few weeks. God, that would be great. I've resorted to sleeping with a fish, dahling, and that's just not the same, rilly. It's a big fish, a marlin, almost as tall as I am, dahling, and it's not very warm. But it is something to cling to in the middle of the night, and my back doesn't hurt as much in the morning, if you know what I mean, dahling, rilly. Oh, do be a sweetie, dahling, understand about Big Fish. He's stuffed, a stuffed fish.

Not the same thing as having Rudy at home.

I get all itchy at the end of a day these days because of the methadone. I never thought I would end up on methadone. I never thought I'd end up with a debilitating back injury. I never thought I'd get married and have children. I never thought I would live past the age of 35. I never thought I would would have a blog. I never used to think.

Hopefully Rudy will be coming home soon, but "soon" is defined very loosely these days. He's very weak and a lot of that can be attributed to the loss of strength that comes from not using muscles. Because of his problems he has spent a lot of time in bed, and really, if you don't use it you will lose it.

I hope to write more soon. I hope to get a new computer soon. Soon is again defined loosely.

If you guessed ME, then you guessed correctly. I am getting horrid pain spikes during the month amidst my "normal" background chronic pain, and while normally i can ride them out sometimes I just can't. So I was getting the occasional 'scrip for vicodin and that was fine but short and stuff but didn't like last long. So I went in to the doctors today and he said why don't we try something new? Something more long lasting and non-narcotic. So while we are starting low doses and working our way up, I am now on three-times-a-day doses of methadone.

How about that?

On the other hand, Rudy seems to have turned a corner. Even his MOOD is getting better. This is great, as last week he was ready to give up. Now even *I* am doing better - my feeling of impending doom has gone away. This is a good thing : )

Rudy's incision is looking good, and he's been taking anti-loose-stool meds because his bowels have been running like water for a few days. He's still dry-heaving a lot and that worries me. But then there is very little about Rudy's health that DOESN'T worry me.

Have I been writing? Don't make me laugh, there's a lad. I've been spending every day since the 25th of May either in the hospital with Rudy, in the nursing home with Rudy, or with Rudy as he's being transported from the hospital to the nursing home or vice versa. I'm reading a lot, playing a lot of video games on the laptop my parents gave me (winME, p3 600 mghz, 64 megs ram, onboard video ad sound, 9 gig HD) a time back. Could I write on that thing? Sure I could.

Well, anyways. Thought I'd let people know I weren't dead. And neither is Rudy. Or my kids (Robbie, Rachel, and Joshua Ryan - real names, so don't tell anyone i told you).

His abdominal surgery went well. All bleeds have been cauterized, tissues have been excized, and the guilty have been arrested, booked, and denied bail.

I have not been able to write anything still, no big story there, aye? One day the stress will relent a tad, and then I'll be writing weird things again. Like anal vore, etc etc etc.

Just wanted to check in. Wouldn't blame any of you out there if you just gave up on me, but for those of you who have not, thank you tons and tons.
