Death and Violence and Murder. All the good stuff.
Criminy. Where to start? Things are horrible, and yet getting horribler, and kinda good.
Turns out Rudy has a bad infection. Gram positive (which is the best kind of infection to have if you have to have an infection), AND a gram negative infection (which is the kind of infection you DON'T want to have). Sigh. They did an echocardiogram today to see if the infection is in his heart valves... And TOMORROW they are going to do a transesophogeal echocardiogram to get a better look at his heart. This is where they stuff a tube down his throat to look at his heart.
So they pulled out his PICC line and it was pussy- laugh- as in having PUS in it, not a vagina : ) Then they put in a new one. a picc line is a catheter that runs from where the put it in- generally at the elbow, and it snakes through the vein and then ends directly in the heart!! How about that!
So Rudy is on a ton of antibiotics right now, AND to add to the joy, he camr up with a POSITIVE result when they checked for hepatitus C. FUCK. The only time he got blood products BEFORE he got into the hospital THIS time was when he got platelets down in Seattle.
Most likely a false positive. MOST likely. They are testing again tomorrow.
On the other hand, Rudy is feeling a LOT better. Has an appetite now, exercises (walks) a little. He's getting better. After all, he woiuld be DEAD right now if he hadn't had the heart valve replacements. So that's a plus right there!
Man.
Anyways, more later as things occur. And I WILL be writing more as time goes by. I PROMISE!!
